A soft, fruity wine with delicate ripe plum flavours both on the nose and palate. Lightly oaked, this wine has a wonderfully appealing balance between fruit and wood.
In The Vineyard
Vineyards: Bush vines/dryland
Terroir: Deep soils from decomposed granite.
Climate: Warm sunny days and the moderating influence of the Atlantic Ocean.
Nestled in a region blessed by superlative vineyards, exquisite Flamingoes and rare orchids, Darling Cellars is located close to the tiny hamlet of Darling on the cool West Coast of South Africa. As a privately owned winery with almost 1,700ha under vine, situated mainly in the newly discovered premium vineyard of "Groenekloof", our wines are set to rival the best in the Cape.
About The Harvest
Crush and destalk, 12 days fermentation at 22-28°C.
In The Cellar
After malolactic fermentation, wine is racked into barrels for 10 months. A blend of 3rd and 4th fill barrels are used.
